Have a wonderful husband of 18 years. Lost my job earlier this month and found a new one in under 2 weeks. Had a lump on my neck, turned out to be a swollen gland. Bought a lottery ticket and won some money. Went to the racetrack and won $1,500.00. Husband had major surgery 5 years ago and has been told by his doctor that he's healthier now than he was before the surgery. Is it luck? I never pray and things always seem to work out fine. Is God shining down on me despite my lack of prayer? And if so, why is it that some people that I know who do pray daily, seem to be worse off?

I find that when I pray it gives me a feeling of being "one and one" with myself, my true values. I don't pray just to pray.
On the contrary, I get an absolute kick out of those who praise God when things go their way, and God is the LAST thing on their mind when things aren't so rosy.
Kinda' like the baseball player that points to the sky when hitting a home run. Where was the finger-to-the-sky when said player got beaned in the arm?

You must be a nice person.
1. Good natured
2. Caring for others, even help someone in need
3. Never wrong anyone in terms of scamming on grounds of money, interest etc.
4. Faithful to husband
5. Law-abiding citizen
These attributes are better than the hypocrites who pray in church every day. So, you will be taken care of, by default.

The person who told you "you must pray in order to be okay" is a bad person -- he's using a typical religious coercion.
You have the idea that not praying will bring bad luck is not a natural idea -- some religious persons planted that idea in your mind. Praying what God? Many different people around the world invented all these different Gods, and they all want to keep their own religions going, and making up bad stories along the way. All religions are systems of falsehood.
Prayer seems like a primitive superstition. If prayer increased the odds of favorable results, insurance companies would give prayers a discount! Underwriters never throw prayer into the mix, because prayer doesn't change the outcome.
A long time ago I mentioned something similar to to this, "I'm not a Christian, I don't pray, and I'm doing okay!" I was told that if I'm not praying and I'm doing okay it's because I'm in league with Satan and his devils are making things good in order to keep me away from God and out of Heaven.
