Huge snowfalls aside, with 4 wheel drive and chains is it relatively easy Driving for a Day Ski Trip from Carson City or Reno?

Really feeling like I should just be in Tahoe area so I can hit up all the snow west and north of the lake but Reno and Carson City seem to have more going on.

26 year old male, single, professional.

Employment shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks a bunch guys, love the forum.

The roads are generally maintained well. Highways 80, 50, 28, 431, 89, 267 are the main roads in and around the lake...but during a snow event, any or all can be closed for a period of time, to all traffic, resulting in massive traffic jams, especially on the California side. All, with the exception of 80, can be subject to avalanch control. California will have stricter chain controls than Nevada.
Chains in Pennsyvania huh? We lived near Reading for 11 years (1989-2000) before moving back to Nevada and I can count on one hand the amount of drivers I saw with chains...not including myself, in that time frame

Live in Olympic Valley, ski Squaw, take weekend visiting women out for a fun time.

We used to say that the best kind of girlfriend had a bus ticket out of town for Sunday evening.

Chains are needed in the Sierra due to the relatively warm snow temps. The colder it is, the less need for chains which is why chains are rarely seen in the east and upper midwest.
