I just saw this thread and if people thought housing prices were high 3-4 years ago they have skyrocketed since. Rents have went up also and locals are suffering. The homeless population has also increased. Not sure what the answer is but it’s getting to be a big problem.

I thought you loved Northern Nevada. You've been saying so these past couple of months...

Have been looking at properties in Reno for a week. Everything we found in areas we would buy have lowest prices in the high $300s for small sq footage, properties we liked were in the $450-$600 range for about 1800-2400 sf.

I've been looking for like 4 years and just recently purchased... makes me annoyed I didn't move out here much sooner! Could have probably paid 30% less for the house I bought, oh well

How are the prices in the Carson City area?
Fernley?
Fallon?
Dayton?

Vic, I totally love it and it’s not hurting us as we own our house. I feel sorry for renters and people looking to buy. It’s the best place I have ever lived.

Nowhere, Fernley is cheaper. I think the other places are just as bad. Tech companies moving in with high paying jobs, people telecommuting with higher paying jobs and California retirees. Just a perfect storm.

Housing in Fernley, Fallon, and Dayton is more affordable than Reno, Carson City, and Minden/Gardnerville.
