Have not been to Reno in twenty years and my wife and I are planning a week or so vacation there late Summer. What is the best moderately priced hotel in the major tourist area? Thanks very much.

Define "moderately priced" and your expectations.

Personally I would stay away from central downtown (a few blocks of Virginia Street) as they are going through gentrification so it's quieter than it used to be. But visiting the Truckee River area and Virginia Street south of downtown would be nice.

There are a couple of newer hotels by Sparks Legends Complex. Residence Inn seems to be steep but Hampton Inn appears to be more reasonable. There's a Fairfield Inn a mile east of there off of I-80 and Vista. My wife and I stayed at the Western Village Inn, not quite so nice but remodeled the rooms a few years ago and it tends to be a bit cheaper. We thought it was fine. Of course, you could stay at the Peppermill, Atlantis or the Nugget.

It will be interesting to hear about your visit since you haven't been here in 20 years.
