I have been here 10 months. It went to 12 degrees way too often in the winter, now frequent 40-60 mph wind gusts. It is worse than dealing with thunderstorms in FL and hurricanes! I mean 3x the amount of winds! I am trying to drag my BF from Tallahassee to go back with me!

Wind in Reno is worse than hurricanes?

According to AccuWeather, here is how many times the temperature in Reno has been as low 12 degrees in 2021:

0.

Look it up.

Anything else you would like to complain about?

Where in Florida? I moved here after living in Tampa and Orlando. I love it here. The wind is a bit of a pain, and the forest fires are bad, but I love the change of the seasons, the mountains, and the short commute. I'm in Carson City, though, Reno may be slightly different.

I am in Carson city right now. The 12 degrees is basically wind chill. There isn't really enough in CS to flourish. I am now looking at family mobile home parks in Reno. And if they are in decent neighborhoods

We've been here 10 months also. Moved from Western NY (Buffalo / Niagara Falls). Maybe moving from that area versus Florida is what has me celebrating regarding the weather. Yes, with the low pressure in CA and high temps in the afternoon here, it IS causing the afternoon Zephyr winds. It's not in the morning and it dies down at night so I don't find it a big deal. I don't find it anywhere near as bad as the winds we experienced in Buffalo so I can't imagine it's hurricane-ish either.

We're in Sparks and I don't recall any wind chill of 12. I know wind chill and this place does not have it. Again, I didn't live in Florida so different perspective.

The wind storms can be bad here, yes. Prevailing wind is from the west, so keep it in mind if your house hunting!

Some areas are known for more wind than others....and location can make a difference as well as how your back patio is set-up, etc....

I do appreciate the wind in the summer months as the breeze in the late mornings really helps keep you comfortable while hiking or biking. It can be in the 90's, but with little humidity and the breeze you can get out and enjoy the outdoors every morning or evening. Of course, it rarely hits the 90's until the afternoon anyway....
