I was told that in NH, if you purchase a home, NH law allows that you can terminate your current rental lease without penalties from the landlord. I am in such a situation but can't find any reference to this which leads me to believe it's either BS or I'm not looking in the right place, any suggestions on where to look?

Frankly, that sounds like BS to me. You could look at NH landlord tenant laws which are likely linked in the first "sticky" on this forum but I have a strong feeling there's nothing of the kind to be found anywhere.
