I have been renting a house with two other people fo about a year now. 2 months agothe property management companyewe are renting through dropped off anotice of increased rent that we had to sign to renew our lease. The problem is that the notice is for the people who lived their pior to us. It seemed they "lost" and never filed our lease. We have been trying to get ahold of them for over 6 weeks to correct this and to get a new and corrected notice for us to sign and we have yet to get a call back. I'm fed up and am looking to just move out. My question is when we move in they insisted for us to transfer all utilites in our name since we are responsible for them. Which we have done. However I noticed on our lease it says that we are responsible for all utilites except sewage, trash and water, which we have been paying. We called and asked about a refund, but suprise suprise, no return phone calls. Are we able to get that money back (80 bucks a month ads up fast) and if so, how do we go about it if we can't even contact the property management?

Unless "trying to get a hold of them" means paper and ink letters addressed to their office...
on that point: who would you call if there was a hole in the roof?

Send them a letter via return receipt certified mail noting all the facts and requesting their immediate response. That's the only way to legally get the ball rolling. Do that first and then come back on the forum when you hear back from them. You might also want to carefully read your original lease so you fully understand its terms and conditions and also read the NC landlord tenant laws which are probably linked in the first "sticky" on this forum. Good luck!
