Hi

I'm trying to find a house-share or flat-share in the US, but I live in the UK. What's the best way/place to find them? I've heard of craigslist and found some others via google, but are there any others? Are websites the best places to find them?

I run a small company in the UK, but I might be about to secure my first US client, which would mean splitting my time between US and UK. Trying to figure out if its economical and/or possible!

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Steve

Like romance... it is best done in person and by way of personal introduction

Value Place Inn is the best of the inexpensive extended stay motel chains: http://www.valueplace.com/
Hopefully they (or one similar) is near where you'll be going.

Use them until you can get the introductions and/or have time to meet some house owners.
And on that point: be CERTAIN you know their legal status and rights w/r/t having tenants.

In person.

No sane person posting a share on CL is going to rent to someone in another country. The next time you visit, try to schedule a day to look at places. In your email, explain that you will be able to view the place when you arrive on a specific date.

I remember I posted for a roommate, and received a number of responses from Asian countries stating their son will be studying at the university, and they can wire me the money, blah blah blah.
