Not sure if this is the right forum but let's say I find an apartment with a move in date that is a week or two after my current lease and 30 day notice have expired. I realize the apartment I'm leaving may not like it, but is there much to worry about beyond communicating with them that I'll need several more days and paying a little more rent?

Better to post in the Renting forum.

You need to talk to your landlord and ask if it's ok if you stay past the end of your lease while waiting for your next place to be available (you'll obviously owe prorated rent for the extra time you stay, it won't be free). Whether or not they let you depends on the landlord and whether they have another tenant lined up already, or if they already have appointments set with painters, carpet guys, etc. Some landlords allow it, some don't. You'll just have to ask.

You mentioned a 30 day notice, did the landlord give you a 30 day notice of termination of tenancy? Or did you give a 30 day notice that you were moving?
