Would my application be declined if I applied for an apartment in another state?

I'm asking if it would be a problem since my current place of residence is in another state. Wouldn't the person want to know why I am applying for an apartment in a different state.

Okay, I will bite, why are you looking for an apt in another state? Let's start there. Perhaps we are missing something here because people move from state to state all the time. You just need to do your due diligence and be careful and screen the LLs/PMs carefully to make sure they are legit. And be careful not to submit money for anything without knowing if these places are legit.

I get these a lot and I don't care why. What I do care about is if you have a job or other income to cover the rent. If you have to work I'd want to see either an offer letter or pay stubs in the new state, in your situation you wouldn't have pay stubs but can get an offer letter if you are transferring for work.

How can you rent an apartment if you have no or bad credit? I know someone who got an apartment in their name and they don't have credit.
