I believe the best place to find out the actual true information you seek would be the local court house in your area.
Fees may vary from area to area and depend on what forms you need, what exactly you are going to sue for etc.
Perhaps do a search online and see if there might be some information online regarding this.
The fee will also be varied depending on the attorney you hire if you hire one.

If your claim is in Small Claims Court you may find this link helpful:

In many jurisdictions you're not permitted attorney representation in small claims court as the procedure is simple but in MD that's optional.

If the suit is not in small claims, it can cost you a lot. The lawyer is by the hour and charges for every phone call and every time he picks up a pencil and not just for the time he is in the courtroom.

There are court fees.

The big expense, though, is if you should happen to lose and the court orders you to pay all their court costs as well as your own, plus a judgment against you.

Your safest route through life is to try to stay out of court. Also, maintain liability insurance for yourself, so that your insurance company might pick up some of the expense if you get sued.
