I think in spite of the few curmudgeons found on every public forum that there are incredibly wonderful people to be found here and I will make an effort to give back when I don't have quite the carpal I am feeling today!

So, counting the days!
YAY!!! I've been following your postings and am sooooo happy for you!!!

Ditto here. Some responses floored me. I lived in San Francisco many years ago & was very sorry when I had to leave due to the rent situation, even back then.

Being in the desirable situation of living in a rent-controlled apartment, especially after 32 years, who would possibly leave that apartment? And, it has been a long time, but I remember the Richmond area as being nice. I lived in the Sunset area myself, practically next door, lol.

There is no way I would have moved from a rent controlled apartment! As it was, my brother was a professor at San Francisco State & he also lived in a rent controlled apartment until he retired and moved back to Minnesota, where he'd previously bought a home. He was able to buy the land and home precisely because he was saving so much in rent for all the years he lived & worked there.

So kudos to you for sticking it out. Whatever you paid your lawyer was well worth it as I am sure that helped your situation. It's easy to harass an older person, not so much when there is legal power behind them.

Yaa!

It is important what you've done...to persevere even though the bullies made themselves at home in your building and in this thread. At least in this thread you don't have to prove you're being bullied...it's in writing for all to see:/

I am really elated for you, and I hope you get your "normal" upstairs neighbor situation back.

Don't destroy your evidence yet, LL hasn't proven innocence just yet imo. And, whats's to stop you from suing these folks for the pain and suffering you've endured.

I am happy for you, too!! Nobody should have to endure any torturous behavior from another. Hopefully, you will end up with a decent and quiet new neighbor.

I am in a rent-controlled place myself and have mostly had quiet neighbors, but have been having to deal with a young couple above me for almost two years. (It is not anything like what you have had to experience, but just repetitve, annoying racket whenever they're home). It is a personality problem with those who slam cabinets, drawers and windows, stomp, drop things... they just don't care and I have wondered how much of it is on purpose.

Earlier, I heard non-stop clomping from both, back and forth, for over FOUR hours straight. (An area of flooring is linoleum). It sounded like the woman was wearing high-heels, then as I heard them going downstairs, I saw that they had several pieces of luggage and were leaving to go somewhere. YAY!! (So they had been packing...and yes, she was wearing pointy-heeled boots). I wish they were leaving for good....

Anyway, enjoy your peacefulness!

OP: It sure appears that most of the posts are in your favor.

Guess the naysayers just didn't get it; didn't take the time to read everything, and/or misread; or have never had to deal with an unpleasant situation and weren't able to relate. Impossible to say, but nevertheless, it's terrible when someone is already down and they get slammed even more.

And now the countdown begins until those terrible neighbors are out in a week!!!

That cuts both ways.

You have no idea how many people have you on Ignore. No one on C-D is universally beloved.

My neighbor resides at 34, Akashneem Tower A6, Mumbai. She is a creep and keeps spying on me. Every time I open my door to receive my mails or parcels, she stands there and tries to find out where my parcels and letters come from. Her entire family wants to know everything about my family's lifestyle. Bunch of creeps! Especially my neighbor's mother or in-law - not sure and don't care. I have reported them to the police several times because they spy on me all the time. How come she knows when I open the door? It's either because she is spying on me either directly or indirectly. Whatever it is, the neighbors of mine clearly have psychological issues so much so that they keep their freaking door wide open whenever possible. Granted that they need some air because our apartments are not exactly airy but the way that they behave is like a freaking bunch of villagers rather than like proper urban residents, who are civilized. They even put their second/safety door in such a way that it hits ours / covers our door half way and sometimes, when we need to go outside for a walk or shopping, they need to shut their door. Otherwise, we can't go out. We have even given them a written notice but it seems they don't understand a word of English! lol. Or maybe they are just ignoring our boundaries. They are pretty creepy and clearly have psychological issues that need to be treated because they don't know to respect our boundaries at all! We even wrote to them politely about their door hitting ours but NOTHING was done about it. When the security guards accidentally call their Intercom instead of ours, they come to know that we have ordered some food or clothes or groceries or are getting mails. These freaks need to be taught a lesson!
