I own a townhouse and my scary neighbor plays his music LOUD (we are both owners)

I only hear it on my upstairs bedroom closet wall that we share so I can put one of those ugly blankets up and no one will see.

I've seen a lot of sound blankets with different ratings on various sites.

Anyone using them? What rating? Does it work?

Thanks

OP, this probably should be in the HOUSE forum, not the RENTING forum, since both you and the "problem neighbor" own, which makes your situation different from renters who can much more easily move.

I am surprised your townhouse organization doesn't have noise rules?

I've never used sound blankets but hopefully others will chime in.

Your absolute best option is to sacrifice 4” of space.

Build a 2x3 frame wall on top of the shared wall. insulate this space with quality sound batting. Lay new drywall on top of this and paint.

Show some pictures of these blankets to your neighbor...
ask him what he thought would be the best choice.

Those blankets work best for the person actually making the noise, like a music room, recording studio etc. these rooms are sometimes insulated from the inside. Not sure if you using these blankets on your end would work
