I think you need legal advice at this point, because you should either be off the lease if he replaced you, or at the very least, you should be able to give notice yourself now. They can't force you to remain responsible for a place you no longer live and no longer want to live.
Oh, but they can if their name is in the lease and she never submitted a notice to vacate, confirmed it was accepted and applied, and possession was given to the landlord.
To make the short of WAAY too long for everyone, it doesn't matter that I HAD submitted a notice of vacating, asked lots of questions, and tried to do everything right on my end, down to burning my money in a pyre because I was a stupid kid and put my faith in the wrong person.
Unless all parties vacate, all parties are still responsible. Me leaving means nothing, formally or informally. I'll probably seek help elsewhere- maybe see if anyone knows any lawyers a broke college kid can afford LOLOL, but thank you all for your time and input :>>>

Check with your university. If they have a law school, you may be able to get some pro bono legal assistance.

Go get a consultation with a lawyer. That’s what you need now. Not the internet. A lawyer. Many will do free consultations so you can see what your options are.
Haha, for sure!!! Having a bunch of strangers on the internet essentially call me stupid certainly didn't help the distress, but hey, that's strangers on the internet!!! Anonymity really brings out the jerk in some people.
Last update- Happy to say that the guy is moving out in April and that I've picked out a wonderful apartment understanding of my situation to start a new life in my love's state. Could've been a LOT uglier, so I'm very thankful for the positive outcome.
I'll probably never visit this page again, so I hope everyone has something nice happen to them tomorrow and that nobody makes fun of THEM when they're down on THEIR luck ;>.
