someone's package gets stolen out of the rental office? I can see someone wanting to terminate their lease after that because that is the one place you would think your package can't get stolen. The option never made sense anyway because their hours are 9am to 5pm and those are the same hours most people work. So I never considered having a package sent to the rental office. This makes the rental office look bad and I want to move and its not even my package.

At my old complex, there was a 24/7 delivery room (only accessible via one time code and with a surveillance camera present) that people used. Before this, packages that weren't let at your door were delivered to the front office and you'd have to pick them up after hours.

At my new place, if you're ordering with Amazon, my complex hosts a large amazon drop off location, with dozens of storage units accessible via one time code for Amazon deliveries.

I will say if my packages were getting stolen at both my door and from the front office, that would be a major issue. I don't know if I'd move for that, but I'd definitely demand reimbursement from the rental office and would probably arrange for my packages to be dropped off at the FedEx/USPS/Amazon/etc. repository.

No because it appears to be poor management of people's packages due to crappy rental office staff which makes it hard for me to take them seriously. If it was me I would be deducting whatever I paid for my package from my rent

It sounds like they handed the package to the wrong resident. That sucks, but to be honest, unless it was something costly, I would try to let it go and have all packages delivered to your apt. door. If theft is an issue, I would get a PO box. I had one for about 6 months - they are really cheap. Eventually, I threw caution to the wind and have stuff dropped at my door.

I would absolutely NOT withhold it from rent. That could get really nasty for you.
