What's wrong with a safety deposit box? Many banks will give you one for free if you open an account with them. Just pick one within walking distance of your place for ease of access.

I have considered that. I'd like something a little more accessible though. I also have a remote storage closet and have considered just using that also.
As far as important papers, those can also be scanned and stored online.
The funny thing is, most of these options require a key, and one of the things I'm interested in protecting are extra keys. Also checkbooks, etc.

So you trust cyberspace and potential hackers more than you trust your neighbors?
Don't get me wrong, I actually think that's a good idea (redundancies never hurt anyone)...just wondering why you'd make the statement "Is it just futile to even consider when you rent an apartment?" but appear to be more trusting about online storage where you have the potential for a heckuva lot more people to gain access?

*ahem* Most of the time when people have personal information stolen, it's because they have been careless somehow. Storing information online is way more safe than storing it at home.
LOL *ahem* back atcha....I guess I was thinking of it in the sense that millions of people don't have access to my home and therefore less possibility of it being stolen I do agree with you, though, that information tends to be stolen because people have been careless.
