Ok so theres this great house for rent and I called the landlord and asked if we could rent it. She said there was 2 people already leasing the 4 bedroom house so i was like ok.

I know she's lying because we went there and there's nobody living there, you can just tell.

The people trashed the place before they moved out i learned from my friends so i think shes lying cause shes scared.

Ayways is there anything that I can do since she's lying about people being in there? Can i go to the cops? I know that's silly but i don't know what to do.

You seriously want to call the cops because you think they will force the landlord to rent you a house? And that she's listing a place for rent but doesn't really want to rent it because she's embarrassed?

Did it ever occur to you the other two people may have signed a lease but not moved in yet?

And if your assumptions are correct, why would you want to rent from that person in the first place?

Well It's a really nice 4 bedroom house, the biggest on campus. It has a huge pool in the back and looks like a million dollar house on the inside......all for 1800 dollars a month. So you can understand why i kind of want to get the house ASAP

Maybe they just haven't moved in yet? We've been renting our new apartment since January 15th, but are not moving in until next Wednesday. Let it go, and find somewhere else.

Why would you call the cops? Seriously?? She does not have to rent to you anyway, no matter how much you like the house. They don't have to rent it to you, she is not obligated to you!

Like other people have said, maybe someone did sign a lease already and did not move it yet. I know when we are showing our rentals alot of people are looking in advance, before their lease runs out, so they will put a deposit on it in advance and to move in unit the 1st or 15th whatever the case may be.

Um...wow, I can't believe the OP actually asked this question! Oh, and I agree with what the other posters have said. Let it go.

Yeah. Call the cops. Why not? I'm sure they'll, like, totally be on your side. I mean, like, there's, like, a pool and everything! And it's, like, right on, like, campus.

Lemme venture a guess--or maybe a prayer--that you're not going into pre-med.

I would file an injunction if Federal Court that she has to rent to you. Then call the cops when she fails to rent the house to you. If your in pre-med, that is better than being in law school.

Maybe you could sponsor a bill on the floor of the House that mandates that she rent the apartment to you. If she still refuses, maybe the president could order the Navy to blockade her house and make the local businesses respect an embargo on her.
