If you rent your house out, which insurance company should you use? What coverage do you recommend?

I'm sure it varies by State...

I use a Broad Form Fire Policy with Rental Liability Endorsement and also have a separate Umbrella Liability Policy.

Don't know of any Home Owner type policies unless an owner officially resides on the premises...

I have the same question. So you don't need to buy a homeoner policy if you don't live there?

I don't think you can get a Home Owner Policy on a non-owner occupied rental home...

My agent said, depending on circumstances... it might be grounds to deny a claim...

Fire Policies are less expensive, but they don't afford the broad coverage available with the Home Owner products...

Does one need to consult an insurance agent?

I am confused? Are you covered if you have homeowner insurance if you don't live there?

My understanding is maybe... and this is not how you want to have insurance.

Homeowners Insurance applies to owner occupied property... if it's not owner occupied... you may not have the coverage you think...
