Hey folks,

Kinda new to this, so be nice, haha!

My current lease is close to expiry. It runs out on 31st May at 11am. I have asked the landlord if there is a 1-bed available within the same building. If there is, the new lease for it would start on June 1st...

SO this may seem like a silly question, but what happens during that one night, between may 31st and June 1st... Typically, do landlords make exceptions for an early move in? I don't wanna stay in a hotel for a night with all my stuff, haha!

My landlord did it for me in the last place. It would be the epitome of poor customer service to make a fuss over a silly 13 hour gap...

If he did charge you one day it would be prorated - you take the number of days of the month divide by that months' rent and that is what one day of rent equals. you pay that in addition to your first months rent. this is if he did not allow you to stay that one day for free. Ask him.

Normally the lease expires at midnight. So on May 31st at midnight your old lease expires and on June 1st at 0001 your new lease starts.

I dont' think I've ever seen a lease showing a time of day for expiration.
