I saw my roommate carrying in a Guns And Ammo magazine and a Cato Institute newsletter which I understand to be a right wing extremist organization.
I asked him if he had any guns. He paused and said "Since there is no right answer I think I will pass." I was pretty dumbstruck over his refusal to tell me one way or the other. I pressed again and he said "I will tell you I am not in violation of any law."
I am not sure how to address this, especially since he wouldn't even answer the question. We are liberals who don't believe in guns and not sure why someone would feel they need one with Obama looking over us.

I'm not trying to turn this into a political thing, but what does Obama looking over us have to do with wanting a gun? Honestly, having Obama watching over us doesn't instill a whole lot of confidence in me personally...
It sounds like he knows you would immediately bash him for having a gun and he wanted to avoid conflict. If you are going to be intollerant of gun rights, can you blame him for avoiding the question?
You SHOULD be a little more tolerant of him and his views, but I bet you don't like that answer.
It seems like he was very mature in avoiding an issue he knows would just create an arguement. If he is willing to be tolerant of your anti-gun attitude, shouldn't you be tolerant of his pro-gun attitude?

What should I do?
As long as he is not acting in an irresponsable way with the gun, and
is stored safely. Its not illegal to own a gun, or to have one in an apartment,
unless you suspect he wears a ski mask and robs ppl to make
a living.

"What should I do?"
Shut up because it's none of your business if your roommate owns a gun..
The last thread was "Roomate has hookers over". hookers and guns,
hmmm.......sounds shady to me.
First it was porn...then hookers and now guns. I cannot imagine being in that position, or not.
