How long does it take to rent out an apartment in a major city? (tenants, house)

Landlords, what is the normal amount of time, once vacant, that it takes to move in a new tenant?

Lately, it takes 2 or 3 days. I won't show an apartment until it is made ready for move-in. Yesterday I put up a sign on a vacancy and had 3 calls in 2 hours. I have 3 appointments today to show it. What a way to start a Monday. But it can go a month or two. Lately, it's only a few days.

I will show it before it is ready due to the time tenants have to give notice on their prior residence or to arrange other moving issues.

It takes me 3 -5 days to get the property ready for move in and in that time frame it is always rented out.

Depends on too many factors to begin to answer this question.

The biggest factor, always, is price. Depending on how you price it, it may rent in hours, days, weeks, months, or never.

I have a house, not an apartment, with a property manager. We had it priced $100 over comps and above the realtor's recommendation... it rented in 8 days.

It depends on the location and rent price.

It normally takes 3 to 4 months in my area. I guess it could be shorter, however that's only because I screen my tenants thoroughly.
