In a retirement forum, the question might logically seem to be directed at "How much money does one need to retire?" --- But, I think the life questions relative to that proposition go much deeper than money (although I'm certainly in favor of having some!).
In the context of money alone, I know many wealthy people who find great unhappiness in the knowledge that, 'they can buy anything they want, but have discovered that possessions and financial advantages ... are not enough!'. In contrast, people of lesser means are similarly unhappy with their 'possessions', but have great hope that future 'wealth and possessions' might solve that. Solomon said, "All of the labor of man is for the mouth, but the appetite is never satisfied"
This question is posed more in the context of, 'What does it really require to bring lasting peace and joy to the human soul?' What do you think?

My father used to say, "Money doesn't solve all your problems," and I pointed out, "Yes, but it solves money problems." (I think he felt guilty about wheeling/dealing/stealing for his gambling habit. Denies it to this day).
Love, friendship, joy in my work, healthy food, music, and sunshine on my body make me happy. How about you?
