How are the beach towns along the Florida panhandle?

We have been interested in Seaside Oregon. The property taxes are not all that bad in that county, and houses/fixers can be found under $200K. Very touristy, which we would enjoy very much. The little town is priceless, good places to shop and eat. Cannon Beach a few minutes down the road for a more upscale visit. Cold in the winter however.
