Now - on to the 60s and next week~~~~the 70s I finally believe it's over.
Does that bring back the memories!!! You know how many zillions of times I said that, in the 43 years I lived there? I believe it's over! Spring/Summer here we come! There's a timeless old epigram: The basis of optimism is sheer terror!
What I miss most is the endless chants, from January thru April: This is my very last winter here! And?
Come next year? The chants would be more emphatic, a bit louder: This is my very, very last winter here!
Out here, the chants, of a different nature, start around mid-July: This is my last summer in Las Vegas! My last summer in Phoenix! Aha! The temp is falling below 100 tomorrow, it's finally over!
It's just rain here, but, they said the "S" word on the news
Oh, you poor things. I felt like that all winter, that it would never end. I know the feeling. It will get better, it really will. What a terrible way to begin the merry month of May.
Forecast temps in the 90's in Los Angeles day after tomorrow. It will be our first hot weather.
When we left home Sunday morning, it was 47°, clear sky, clean air, and cold breeze. An hour and 35 miles later when we reached San Bernadino, the temperature there was 89° and smog was suffocating.
It's great to have a chat thread where there is almost no such thing as being off-topic. I just wanted to share a fascinating thread in the main Economics Forum which is entitled "You know you're from a working class background if...." This thread has very nuanced, perceptive and insightful discussion about class in America and how class is about much more than just money. What does it have to do with retirement? Well, nothing. (It's great to have a chat thread....)
