For all of you that were working and got an unexpected call from HR that basically said,
Thanks for the service but we don't need you no more, you are retired"

If you were in your 60's.
How did that turn out? Did you find retirement good? or did you find you were in bad financial staits ending work before you thought you wanted?

Coming from someone who might get that call from HR some time in the next couple of months...

How about your spouse?
Finding out that maybe they would have to work longer to make up for your lack of a normal paycheck now.

I got that call MOL. They offered us early retirement but we could stay as long as we did our jobs.. I surely didn't need the stress of not knowing when and if I would get that call. They offered us a little extra to retire so I took it.

I was lucky I could get SS from my LH. I couldn't handle the stress after loosing my DH just the year before..

I am not sorry at all.

Boy! I don't have any background in this type of forced retirement but you do have my best wishes to stay strong.

I had to retire early for medical reasons but I am one of the lucky ones that have a lifetime pension & Social Security to fall back on.

As I said.....stay strong while you find new opportunities to fill your life with.
