Drinking more water may help BUT drinking too much water can be harmful and lead to mental confusion, headaches, insomnia, etc. Here's one article about it:

Four years ago I told my mother's doctor that I was trying to encourage my elderly mother to drink more water. I was shocked when he told me to be careful with that. In her case the issue related to her heart. I forget his explanation - I was too busy trying to process the fact that he had said that too much water could be harmful.
