Kansas, it is way too flat and dry. I am from Seattle and like mountians, trees and water even rain and cool weather. I could find something to like about most places but don't see why I would like Kansas. I like Alaska and could like any coastal state pretty well or a state on the great lakes or with great fishing in lakes or rivers. I will stay in western Washington since it is home and I have family here and I like it and already have a home.

Well, first of all, can I please have that million dollar apartment in Chicago? I love Chicago.

As long as the proffered million dollar apartment is in a decent neighborhood somewhere in the US, I can't think of any place that I couldn't put up with for five years to gain title. I think I can be happy wherever I am, as long as I can get internet service and go visit my kids on occasion.

I'm open. I will go anywhere as long as there is wifi access and my digs are luxe, lolololol.

Oh, and my furkid would have to be allowed. And I require a covered balcony or some sort of patio where I can sit w/ my laptop, drink coffee, and watch either the sunrise or the sunset.

PS> I have friends w/ a condo overlooking Grant Park and $1 M won't even get you a handshake w/ the doorman. Just sayin'.

Would not live in Utah or North Dakota. They just sound too cold and maybe arid. Not Kansas due to tornadoes (Wizard of Oz.) Not Louisiana due to heat, humidity and I stayed in a motel there once and it had cockroaches, so bad experience. Not Alaska.

I'd live anywhere else for five years and then I'd come back to New England.

There are many places I love to visit but would never live. I won't live in any big city. Not intending to sound anti-American, but I won't live in the US again.

Edited to add: Hmm....I could probably be convinced to live in a nice house on the northern Cali coast for 5 years. But not longer. As long as I could travel frequently.

I wouldn't live in the DC area. Been there/done that. High traffic, high crime, stinky air and humidity.

Anywhere cold and North Korea. Not like I ever been to NK, but it sounds like an awful and sad place to live. I would end up weeping for their people there.

Well at this point in my life if someone offered me a home worth a million bucks and demanded I live in it for 5 years, I would turn them down unless I loved the place already. I'm happy being a snowbird and don't want to get stuck in the heat or the cold until I'm too old to travel (at which point I'll be stuck in the cold.)

Any place that wasn't a 55+ community. I really don't want to live around children, especially teenagers, ever again.
