hi, can you please share your experience with Medicare?
1) what age did you start receiving it?
2) how much (if any) did it cost you monthly?
3) how was your coverage compared to your insurance before?
4) how was your spouse impacted (if any)?
1. 65.
2. $209/month.
3. I kept my existing BC/BS insurance, which is now the secondary insurer after Medicare. The biggest impact was that BC/BS waives all copays/coinsurance when Medicare is the primary and also picks up all Medicare copays and deductibles, so there are no out-of-pocket expenses for routine care. That makes up somewhat for the added expense of the Medicare premiums. The biggest advantage is that should I ever require extensive medical care, the out-of-pocket expenses should be minimal.
4. I do not have a spouse.
We are not yet recieving Medicare, but you start it at age 65, the cost of part B is $110 a month per person then whatever else you select, you can go with original Medicare and buy drug coverage etc. or you can select an "Advantage plan" But they all cost different so you have to see which plans are available in your state and what they offer and for how much, they seem to run from about $40 a month to about $300 a month per person.
Spouse must get their own coverage which might be the same as yours or something different. They also come under Medicare at 65.
I am interested in this also. Mine starts in June. I am going to take a class to try to understand the 52 plans that Medicare.gov says are available in my area!!

Medicare part A hospital is free
$104.90 for Medicare part B (doctors and lab work)
$141 for Aetna plan F which is excellent and picks up all deductibles and copays. I love the plan F.
$30 for Cigna part D (pharmacy)
My total is $275.90 for everything.
I have had 6 doctor visits, 2 hospital procedures, 1 x ray and 1 MRI and didn't have to pay a dime.

If I can ask where are these classes held? How would I find one in my area?
wow, interesting.
does the 275 cover you and spouse or is it another 275 for the spouse?
That is for each or $550 for both. About a third of what we paid for private insurance that had a total of $6,000 in deductibles and co pays.
With the plan F all we pay is the premium and that is it.
You got it, we never pay a dime in co pays or deductibles! Sweet.
