I was at a media conference about baby boomers in New York recently and they had a number of baby boomer experts presenting information (e.g.; did you know 1 out of 3 adults alive today are baby boomers?). Anyway, this guy asked a very provocative question - do you think your best days lie ahead of you, or have you already seen your best days.
I would really like to hear how other people would answer this question ( i promise to give my answer, but later). Please qualify by saying if you are a boomer or not (born 1946 -1964)
Born in 1955 so yes a boomer. I feel that my best days are ahead of me, I had some wonderful days with my wedding day the birth of my children and watching them grow up to be productive individuals. The though of not having to report to a mundane job doing what ever we want to do, go which ever way the weather is best. Yes I believe they are ahead of me.
I'm a boomer. This sounds like the old cliche with the half of glass of water, is it half full or half empty. Pessimist or optimist. I'll put myself in uncharted territory since this is a new thread. I'm in the middle, a little young and a little old. It's a good feeling because I have 35 year old friends and 75 year old friends. LOL
1960 here - Life is all good. I really wouldn't want to do the same things todday as I did in my 20's (Hmmm..well maybe for a night or two!). I believe that my best days await me and I am so looking forward to embracing this next level. Hey life is too short and getting old sucks, but that dosen't mean you have to go through it sour and miserable.
Yes I'm a Boomer. I don't really think there is a right or wrong answer to this question. Myself I feel like that song "We've Only Just Begun to Live". We've spent years doing what had to be done. Now it's time to do what we want to do. Yep it's playtime. I can't wait!
A boomer too. I always look ahead. The life and experience behind me contained some great things but also some hard lessons. With absolute freedom just around the corner, yeah, the best is yet to be.
1946-1964? That makes me a boomer, too. A little closer to the front end of the range. I've always believed my best days are ahead. Yes, this is all about attitude--but it's an attitude that's always turned out to be true.
Do I KNOW for a fact what life has in store for me? Do I KNOW for a fact that I will enjoy every single moment that lies ahead? Of course not--and so what? Here are five things that I do know:
1. No matter what happens, I can find a way to enjoy life.
2. You can't always predict what things you will enjoy and what things you will hate. So there's no point in predicting how you will feel about the events that lay ahead of you. And you certainly don't know what events lay ahead of you. Life is full of surprises.
3. Even when life gets a little rough, good times will return. Things always get better eventually.
4. Life is too short to waste it guessing about what lays ahead or how I'm going to feel about it.
5. Young people like to gag at positive attitudes, they think it means a person is "stupid" and that it is smart to act as though life is handing you a raw deal. But when you get older, you discover the opposite is true. A positive attitude really does improve your health, your wealth, and your enjoyment of life.
When you get toward the end, life is too short not to laugh at it all. Laugh as much as possible. Life is pretty funny when you look at it the right way, and I intend to laugh all the way to the end.
