Every senior center up here in NE has a casino day bus trip. My sister thinks I should go with her just for fun but not sure this is my thing. I imagine the food isn't my type either but maybe I ought to try this so I don't keep coming across as a stick-in-the-mud.
Your kinda of stuck in tough situation. You probably need to go once to satisfy your sister.
Hopefully they have a non-smoking section if then smoke is bad. Depends on the cansino
with the food. Personally I get bored silly gambling but a person does need to get out.
Good luck!

I abhor buffets so I need to find somewhere off site to eat. When I went to Tunica, MS there were no restaurants for miles around, only in the hotel/casino. That bothered me a lot.
Since I have been back in AR I have discovered that the race track in Hot Springs has gaming. There is no hotel associated with it. This means I could get my own hotel room, eat where I want, and go and do my piddly nickle slots when I want. Win-win!
I hate gambling. But if I wind up in a casino, this is what I do, and it pays off:
Watch for a "born loser" on a slot machine. They'll play and play and play, on the same machine, and maybe a tinkle or two, but no flush of coin ever comes down. Just keep an eye peeled. There is a demographic typical of this situation, but I'm not allowed to mention it. But that's what you look for. When they leave, get on that slot. That's the best chance you'll hit the jackpot. Give it maybe 20 coins at most. If it doesn't happen, then, you just misjudged; so, just repeat. 80 - 100 coins (4 or 5 carefully "selected" slot machines) and you should get a jackpot.. Then leave. If you're convinced that you observed right, and yet, it doesn't work after that many coins, your judgement is off, the slots are rigged, or your stars just aren't right. So pack up and head out.
I am more than $2100 ahead on 4 rather brief trips to casinos in the past 12 years, playing just a few "selected" slots., using this method.

It's just not for me. DH's dad and uncle LOVE casinos, though. So whenever he visits them, or they visit us, a lot of the time is spent hitting the casino(s). I'm still working, so I have that as an excuse, but poor DH winds up going with them to the casino (or casinos in our case -- I think there are 8 or 9 within about an hour's drive). He'll usually dedicate $40 bucks to the endeavor. Sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses. DH's uncle almost always wins, though -- in the hundreds of dollars. And that's just playing slots.
I'd rather spend my money on an experience (travel, concert, etc.) or on something tangible.
Sixteen years ago I went to Las Vegas for a trade show. We stayed at the Sahara, and one night we went down to the casino where I light up the nickle slots for a $20.00 jackpot. I suspect they still have my picture posted somewhere and will escort me from the casino should I ever return!
It is entertainment. Figure out how much you want to spend for the night and use that money. As long as the lights are on in the Casio you know the gamblers are losing.
If you are playing the slots you might be surprised to find that you win on almost each spin. But if you pay attention you are winning less that you are putting into that spin.
When I go I take $20 and play until I lose it. If I win a $100 I would probably play half of that back and then quit.
