I stepped away from the rigidity of full time employment (A nine month contract actually) at the end of the last school year. I am 66.
I'm carefully avoiding the semantic quibbling as to whether I am retired or not!

I don't need to work to pay my bills so I think that means that I am retired by the prevailing definition among posters.

I sub most weeks and that is extra money that I don't need to depend on so if it doesn't happen that's alright too but it will help the winter pass quicker and I like to keep adding to my savings even a little.

I think that I have the perfect arrangement and I'm very grateful.

If you're working because you have to do so for financial reasons, it's true that you're not retired. But, if you're working because you want to do so, for social or other reasons, I consider that being retired.

of course the 'lurkers' here who are into the 'sensor' / "stamped-put-of the-mold" / "group think" generic retiree have NO concern (only disdain) for those who got an early axe, or those still WORKING PT, for fun, for 'play money' . That is fine,,, they can cry / try to control all,,, unlike families / ego bosses / jerky friends...at least we have 'Ignore".

The model retirement here... You gotta retire ONE WAY and stay THAT WAY forever! That's the rules you know...

Your infamous 2016 pres candidate made sure I am many others got the 'adios' just prior to retirement benefit eligibility. I was 6 weeks away, my good friend missed benefits by one day. (we each had over 30 yrs service).

This CEO (?) has served no one but themselves FOREVER. Why do they (the 2 ego seekers) get 1 second of coverage / talk time? Neither has any intent or hope of ever serving the public. The should just "retire" (again). Money is certainly not stopping either.

Be careful who you trust (Here, and at the polls)

I do part-time promotion and publicity for a well-known famous singer. I do it at home and choose the hours which are scattered over the month, and dependent upon need.

This happened by accident. And I still find it surprising after 19 months.
