I'm wondering if I'm just weird.

I have a constant music track that always runs in the background in my head. It is mostly the popular music from my life starting with the 40s tunes that my mother always had playing on the radio and then the music from my era, mostly 50s through 80s.

Do any of you share this obsession?

If not, what programming do you hear when your environment is silent?

Ha! Yes, I'm the same way. Unless otherwise distracted, I play music in my head or just make up tunes to hum.

I also realize that there is a song for practically any common phrase:

I'm pretty thirsty:

Oh, look! It's raining:

The sun's going down:

etcetera...

These songs, or similar songs always pop up in my head when I say, or think, something.

Don't listen to the Hormel pepperoni song!
You'll have that in your head for days.

Yes! I do too. It drives me crazy sometimes if a crappy song gets stuck in there, because I never wish I was an Oscar Meyer wiener. But it's nice when a good song is playing in my head... to a point.

I read that this is a form of obsession, a symptom of a mild OCD, which makes sense to me. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older.

Posted this in the music thread, but for the past three weeks the theme to Gidget, over and over, day and night. I am going insane. Grrrrrrrrr.

She acts sorta teenage, just in-between age
Looks about four-foot-three
Although she's just small fry, just about so-high
Gidget is the one for me
