Wow. Racist and wrong. However, you do bring up an excellent point. This thread is full of people (assuming whites) telling about how they committed illegal acts with seemingly no consequences. Yet, as demographics change, all of a sudden, these same acts are now major crimes. Hmmmm...
This has always been the case. Color and the neighborhood you live in make a difference. I got away with many things when young that I would have paid a harsh price for were I a 17-year-old black teenager instead of a 17-year-old white one .
Should also like to mention that "drugs" many teens got say from the 1950's well into the 1980's were often various sleeping pills, uppers, downers, and tranquilizers either from their parent's medicine cabinets and or some other teen/young adult. The latter often got his or her supply from the same source.
Around the 1940's or maybe 1950's doctors were handing out prescriptions for Valium, Nembutal, Quaaludes, Amphetamines and so forth like candy to any bored housewife/female patient, and or anyone else with any sort of "complaint". No one bothered about addiction and or were held accountable. Hence you got sad cases like Judy Garland and others who offed themselves by overdosing.
In the 1960's or 1970's plenty of women were on "diet pills" (which were mostly nothing but uppers), and then they also had "downers" to get themselves to sleep at night.
Grew up in a more suburban part of New York City and am here to tell you by high school you could get Quaaludes, Valium and so forth at almost any party or even in school if you where to ask. Supposedly "ludes put you in the mood"....
Yes, they did, crazily so. Ludes are the only drug outside pot I'd be tempted by now, if they still made them here. Just one time for a romantic weekend with my honey we'd never forget😉
Mid to late 60's alcohol was easily had by teens, beer or hard liquor. The tragedy today is that heroin is more easily available to teens to abuse & it's cheaper as well.
Grew up in the 70's & 80's and we always "knew" (through the rumor mill) where we could "buy" easily.
Sadly, started drinking alcohol at 16 years of age.

Why do you say "sadly?" I also started drinking at 16 but I can'tsee that it did me any real harm.
Another plus back then was if you were busted in possession of beer as a minor back in the 70's, the cops usually made you pour it out onto the road and they'd send you on your way (provided you weren't drunk). It was important to stash half of your beer nearby and not have it all out in the open.
When I was a p/t cop in my hometown, we would confiscate the beer and send the kids on their way. But the beer would find its way to a good home. (wink, wink)

Same here, but in the late 60s. I have never been carded, my entire life (now 65).
Move to Texas! They are now making everyone show or scan their ID if they are buying alcohol. You can be 110 years old and you still gotta do it.
