I have time to reflect on many things during the long, cold winters here. This is the second coldest area in Colorado.
My conclusion is that my prognosis is currently better than the nations. Majored in Economics so I keep a close eye on living high off of debt....which is what we are doing. Sitting at 20 trillion and growing like a weed. Congress is jamb packed with stupidity, incompetence, and corruption. Pills are now a bigger business than oil & gas. Etc. Etc. Etc. The kids generally want to try socialism/Marxism yet again. Ingsoc Thought Cops surveil those who still use their mind. Idiocy reigns supreme. De Nile is more than a river in Egypt.
I figure the country may have 5-25 years left in her though I may be way, way off....hope so. I should be good for another 10-35 years or so. Don't really want to be around during a massive re-organization so I am currently studying other areas with more sustainable trends.
Great time to be alive though. Internet and LED lighting.

I think we have another 100 yrs, but skeptical about the country being better with each day - especially this past year. There becomes a time eventually in each of our lives to be content with the present and not worry about the future. Many of us did our share of worrying during our professional years in our jobs/careers. Now it's time for other generations to take the handoff. I feel like we're giving them a country is worse shape than what we were given. During my last chapters of my book, I refuse to dwell too much on it -
Sometimes, but I try not to dwell on that. I figure when God wants me I will be ready. I believe that physical death here is not the end, but is a transition to another dimension of existence with our loved ones.
I'm going to be 70 this year, so I'm figuring maybe I've got 20 years left, 25 at most. DH is eight years older and we have no children, so I know I am going to be alone for most of those years. Like others have mentioned, I am concerned about how I will be cared for if I should become too frail to live alone. But I'm hoping to be able to fund a LTC facility that offers higher levels of care should it become necessary. I also think that assisted suicide should be made available for those of us who don't want to be a burden and whose quality of life has declined irreversibly. In the meantime I try to appreciate every day that I am still on this planet. I am also exercising and watching my diet so I can stay well for as long as possible.

I have a friend who cares for people like you in their homes. She isn't a nurse but a companion type person who is smart enough to know when she can be the help and when a doctor or nurse is needed. She loves it and said she believes this is her calling. You may want to get in touch with your Council on Ageing organization and check into possible help in case you should need it fast.
I am 72, hubby is 75 and our daughter just paid us an almost professional visit to make sure we are doing fine. I would not want her to have to leave her nursing job to help us if we needed in home help so my friend would be my choice. We also exercise, vacation, shop, etc. It should not matter that you have no children. There are many volunteers out there who could help you stay in your home. For instance there may be a person who needs a place to stay and would keep an eye on you in order to have a home to live in. Please don't think about ending your life before your time.
It's interesting that so many think because someone or several in one's family lived to 92 or 95, that means almost automatically they can expect to live that long too.
I've seen a couple of documentaries on age and life expectancy. They referenced studies that do show that genetics plays a strong part in how long a person lives. And also...because of better medical care (for those who get it), that helps a person live a little longer sometimes.
So if living to 95 runs in the family, the odds are that you will, too, if you inherited those genes from that side of the family. Of course, there are other factors, such as smoking when the others didn't, drinking heavily, being obese, not having medical care, and the like.
