I do engineering consulting gigs, Innovation, factory startup, and sourcing.
As a couple we do volunteer gigs at international schools (They pay room and board, we use mileage points to get there, or sometimes group / sponsors will assist).
Many do oil and gas, (PT consulting)
Some do NGO management / consulting.
Neighbor (FIRE for 15 yrs) works PT gigs for USAID (Currently in Middle East)
(3) ER friends are teaching internationally (PT)

I would like to serve a season in Antarctica.

Find your own Bernie Madoff. Just make sure to get out before the police arrive.
An early retiree couple who's Financial manager had them in Madoff, are now DIY fixers (in their late 70's)
Was a good run while it lasted.

You may want to wait until 70 to take SS. That way you don't pay back a dollar for every two earned.

That happens at FRA, not at 70.

Do you have a hobby or skill that you can use to produce income? I am an illustrator/photographer so make extra money from selling my drawings/photos. We also garden and always have extra veggies/fruit to sell: strawberries, asparagus, baby potatoes, raspberries, etc.

We also stumbled by serendipity on having a parking lot on our land as we are near a recreation trailhead. It has made a big difference in our lifestyle. This income is in the higher 4 figures but could be higher if we promoted it more.

We are also frugal so that adds extra income by the penny save is a penny earned model.

You could do BOTH at the same time! Catch a tuna, and sell it by the can. Have you ever seen just how BIG they are (1,500LBS each!), and just how small each of those cans are? You could "clean up" on just one single fish!

Listen to that song "Fancy" by Bobbie Gentry. I don't care if you're a gal or a (flexible) guy.... it don't have to be N'orlins, you don't have to be 16, and let's say "get on out now...best be movin' uptown..." means take a bath, comb your hair, and get out of the house and go lookin'.

My (ex) neighbor did exactly that and subsequently he moved on uptown...at the age of 63 with big belly, Type II diabetes, no less. Caught hisseff a big (bankbook) fish! (btw, they're on a Hawaiian cruise right now) I imagine if you're a chick it's twice as likely to happen.
