What internet speed is necessary for internet viewing? Based on the ComCast flyer which arrived in yesterdays's mail, it appears they shove "Internet Only" customers into the slowest category.
Has anyone had issue with excessive bandwidth use? I heard comments from one retired lady that since cutting the cord, she and her husband are constantly badgered by their internet provider because of excessive bandwidth use.
We have Cox and they claim we pay for 30Mbps, my husband measured last night, we got about 15Mbps.
I’m thinking of going to Fiber, AT&T for Internet. I think it will be over what Cox provides us. I’m tired of being ripped off.
DH is thrifty and likes to get over-the-air channels. He bought a cheapo antenna the other day to get more of them.
I have Amazon Prime with the add-ons for HBO and Showtime. I don't watch over-the-air TV at all. DH would watch a show called "Paint Drying" if it were the only thing on.
We bought a cheap antenna too, it was unwatchable, maybe it was the rain, but we’re returning it and eventually will switch over to YouTube TV for the local channels and get subscription to PBS for $5 a month, kind of like donations, IMO.
I haven't subscribed to cable TV for many years now. Well over a decade. I do use Comcast as my ISP for $39.95/month. My library offers several video streaming services, and I also use Amazon Prime to stream movies and the occasional series.
When I moved into my current apt., I did not sign up for phone or cable. I have no TV. I watch videos on my laptop. Old TV shows, documentaries, etc. Much more entertaining than TV IMO. I got a cell phone and the LL supplies Wifi.
I had a 3-day vacation in an AirBnB with a TV last fall. There wasn't anything I wanted to watch.
Call AT&T and threaten to cancel. They'll drop the price.
I am beyond being just that mad.
I might think of staying with them if they lower the price to about $80 for all of it other than that I'm going cordless or cutting the cord.
I need to buy a new car and looking at the price of internet and television that's over half of what I expect to pay for a stupid car payment, this is insane!
Today I received my new AT&T bill and it jumped nearly $100 to $228.27 and I am ticked!
Yes, I had a two year contract that just ran out but there is no way I am going to spend that much on internet and cable television every month.
And I don't get anything special... no HBO, Showtime or anything else just straight cable television.
So... looking to cut the cord and my big question is to see if anyone else >50 cut the cord and how do you feel about it?
I can get high speed internet with download speeds up to 100 Mbps for less than $40.
I bought two Amazon firesticks today and I have Amazon Prime and Netflix.
$228.27 is insane. Just nuts.
Anyone else use Fire Sticks?

I’ve never had cable. Don’t have enough time to sit and watch tv enough to justify that kind of money.
Son never missed what he didn’t have.
I always have just had an antenna and watched OTA broadcasts. Of course now, I have Netflix and Amazon Prime. But even without them, regular ol’ network tv would be enough for me.
