Not now but perhaps one day. When that is :i have no idea really. We right now can afford and enjoy two cars i retirement for last five eyars with both retired.
Since we've been married we've only ever had one car. Before we retired our offices were within walking distance of our home - no commute - so two cars would have been an unnecessary expense.
Dropping from two cars to one isn't in our near term plan, though when/if one of us becomes unsafe to drive, we will drop to one car. However, dropping earlier from two to one car IS one (of many) options in our retirement contingency spending reduction plans should it become necessary. Remaining flexible and having a pre thought out plan B, are both part of retirement planning IMHO.
Keeping both cars and a truck. So many people want to borrow the
truck, we don't dare get rid of it.
It's also a plow for all the snow were going to get next winter.
Initially no, we will keep two cars. We will downsize to one in the future. We will be downsizing with our home within the first 4 or 5 years after I retire that I know for certain.
Once we're both retired, we'll keep both cars, but I do think we'll eventually downsize to one car. The only exception to this is we might get a truck to tow the boat and haul things. The main vehicle will be a more efficient car for 99% of all trips. The question is whether we'll keep the boat.
