Because right now, it is a prepper environment, since the start of the pandemic, it is the state of affairs to stock pile, whether it is food for the people or food for pets.

Not in the world I'm living in.

I intend to "stockpile" paper goods. I didn't do it during the pandemic because I didn't want to deprive others of goods that we all need. But since the products are widely available, and it is certain that inflation will get worse, I'm going to try it. A dollar saved is a dollar earned ?

If I had to eat a kid's meal, or a single regular burger at most fast food places, I would just pass. I would be left hungrier than before I ate it. There would be no point unless that was all there was and then I would order 2 of them minimum for myself. That's me, and I don't get any satisfaction eating something that doesn't even begin to make me feel full when talking about fast food.
I would bet you are not a 5 foot tall, 115 pound woman. We smaller people tend to eat less.

To each their own but to me, these times have shown that one can't depend on it being there tomorrow, that one will be able to go out and get it tomorrow.

I don’t know anyone that is stockpiling food or goods. Once a month I buy all the dog food and my food for a month.

It is a "prepper environment" only in your mind. I have never felt the need to buy up months worth of food to stash, not in the last 2 years and really not ever. I don't even have an extra freezer - my one fridge holds more than enough. I really don't know anyone else that stockpiled food either. Toilet paper, yes. But food? Nope.

Actually, I was listening to an economist just the other day and he said, frankly, if something you use is on sale, stock up. The prices won't be going down anytime soon.

Hopefully that is on topic enough for you.
Reread the thread title.

I think people have always done that even in times of no pandemic or inflation.
