I keep meaning to do that, too! Marino makes his small town sound so idyllic...
Don't be fooled. I love living here but that doesn't mean anyone else would. I went from a high taxed, high crime, little water, high cost of living place dominated by liberals to where I currently live which is the polar opposite.
Others may not appreciate it like I do. Your mileage may vary.

I wouldn't have loved paying over $20 for lunch (we have a similar place in my small town, which I avoid), but you enjoyed yourself, and it's cheaper than a vacation!

That would be the Meth capital of the US for those of you uninformed...

That would be where I lived, not where I live now. People in towns like this complain about the little petty crime and drug problems. I just smile and tell them they have no idea
Yup, in certain states like California you have to get your car smogged, every other year or every year depending on car’s age. Has to pass a list of emissions tests, ends up costing about $100 if you pass. It’s another environmental tax basically.
For at least the last 5 years in California they use the OBD2 connector for a smog test, they don't even open the hood except to confirm that the parts are compliant with BAR rules. Cost? Maybe $35 every other year. If you have a car without OBD2 (pre 1996) they probably have to do a more complicated test but I have no idea what that involves or what it costs.

No more Smog tests in CARB compliant WA!
Yippee (since I have over 40 registered vehicles)
The operator could never figure out how to run my manual tranny cars on the dyno.
Lots of stalls and gear grinding (Painful to watch, since I knew who would have to repair the car after they abused it)
I burn Bio Diesel my tests would always read "Zero emissions detected",
then the they rebooted and reset the test machine
then the supervisor would have to come and and reset the machine
Then retest with results = "Zero emissions detected"
Call the manager
He would verify machine was calibrated
Retest = "Zero emissions detected"
Eventually after several calls to regional and state agency, they would shake their heads and hand me my report "Zero emissions detected"
OK, fine, can I leave already? (usually 1-2 hr process)
But... I need to be careful being the 'piped-piper', Everyone following me looking for the donut shop.
Well, to be fair, it was a 5 gallon gas can that wasn't even empty.
It gets used for lawnmower, pressure washer & snowblower
I filled 2 5-gallon cans for the lawnmower last month. It was $44. Granted, it was 93 octane, in case I get the tractor running again. Then, there is also the cost of the Sta-Bil.
