Eggs, ramen, rice, beans, peanut butter and less in the way of meat. People are buying less expensive generic brands, too. Retirees are driving less to save on gas.
I have never in my life eaten ramen. I never even heard of it until City-Data, then I saw the packets in the grocery store.

Same thing happening here. A Raising Cane's chicken finger restaurant just opened in Cookeville and it has been overflowing every day. Tried a new pizza place last night that recently opened near me in Algood and it was hard to elbow inside to pick up my pizza. All the stores are busy; no appearance of a massive slowdown in the economy round here.

Housing is still going strong. A house just outside the entrance to my subdivision went up for sale; within 24 hours Under Contract was added to the sign.

Same here even with real estate. Hotels are about 80% full...very few empty parking spots.
Restaurants are packed. Lots of golfers here as well and we just had 2 bike weeks in May that was packed.

I read the news and it's the complete opposite here except for watching prices rise ...gas on a daily basis now.

A unit in my condo went up for sale....record high price and was "pending" by the end of the first day.

We've taken our RV to various campsites in NV and CA, and all the sites are full despite the price of gas.

Real ramen made with hand made wheat noodles is excellent. It’s totally different from the dried noodles and the salty bullion flavor pack stuff in the grocery store. Just like Pho, it’s all about the broth.

Yeah, comparing packaged ramen to a good restaurant is like a totally different food. I admit it, I loved the cheap packaged ones, but they are so filled with salt and fat that I just can't anymore.

I have all the ingredients to try and make some fresh ramen noodles, just never got around to it.

We frequently say that when we drive by the packed parking lots at area restaurants.

So are casinos.....There are at least a dozen within driving distance from my apartment...parking lots jammed at nights and weekends.
Almost got caught up in the "atmosphere" again.
