I responded to another thread of this kind just a couple days ago and it seems to have vanished. But someone on that thread pointed out that there was a discount on internet services and posted a link. Naturally, I decided to check the link today only to find the thread has disappeared, probably combined with this one.
Does anyone have that link and if they do, can they please PM it to me? I currently don't have internet because it costs a minimum of between $400 and $500 to set up and that's just beyond me right now. I'd like to get some info on any internet discount that's out there.
Thank you!
I'm currently using the library computers right now and won't be back till Tuesday or Wednesday.
I was out and about and found another place for a decent lunch.
A local supermarket with a cafeteria and eating area.
Tuna fish sandwich, Cole slaw and a drink for $6 and change.
It's only the beginning of July and already I see "Back to school" stuff in the stores !!
Even $5 "deals" including a side and drink are overpriced to me. The side is usually negligibly tiny (a mouthful or two), and the drink is pure mark-up; plus, I just drink water.
The one exception is the $5 Wednesday sushi because I freakin' love sushi, but at least they don't try to make it sound like a "deal" by adding a side and drink I don't want or need.

It's called the Affordable Connectivity Program: explained at this link https://www.fcc.gov/acp ..... and also called the Lifeline program.
The drawback is that they may not service your area. I'm currently in Vancouver, but when I give them my Woodland address, they immediately cut off everything and say "We're not currently serving that area"
Well, the Affordable Connectivity Program https://www.fcc.gov/acp serves many millions of Americans in all states - so I would not discourage anyone who qualifies.
As does the Lifeline Program serve millions of Americans in all states who qualify.
Lifeline is the FCC's permanent program to support affordable access to essential communications services such as broadband Internet access. The ACP is a new program designed to provide additional support to make broadband more affordable for certain low-income households.
I tried for the Internet discount. Didn't qualify due to assets. I still toy with the idea of lugging my laptop over the library once a day. Honestly, a couple of hours would do me.
I could spend the rest of that time - and money - much more profitably at Planet Fitness.

I wasn't asked anything about assets. Just income.
I just joined PF a couple months ago, and enjoy it very much. I used to hate gyms, but I used to concentrate on the classes. I joined this time for weights to keep my strength and balance as I'm getting older, and found that I like working on my own much better than aerobics classes. I just wish they had better showers, but I guess for $10 I shouldn't be complaining. BTW, PF has wi-fi.

Turn your cellphone into a hotspot for your laptop and you don't have to go anywhere.

I don't even know what that means. I'm not tech savvy and don't use a "smart" phone.
But I never had home Internet before the whole working-from-home thing and didn't miss it. It wouldn't hurt me to spend less time staring at a screen and arguing with strangers, LOL.
