Well, I've got a mad sweet tooth. If you don't, they likely wouldn't appeal to you. You probably heard about them recently because of the infamous Christmas Tree Cake shortage over the holidays (I much prefer the Gingerbread Cookies, and they were in short supply, as well.) The main draw is that they're good and cheap. Er, WERE cheap.

Those kinds of price increases are across the board for many types of food. My electric bill was just jacked up 12% per kWh. My power bill was $145 last month, living alone in a ~1250 sq. ft. place. Gas is still pushing $3/gallon.

I make fairly good money, and I can afford it. What does inflation do to someone like my grandmother - lower income during her life, been retired ~25 years, small pension from the state, some SS, some savings, etc.? It's really tight for folks like that.
I'm sure your grandma will be just fine. She lived through the high inflation of the 70-80's so she's been through it already.

You forget that we are all retired here. We aren't 30-something like you.

I don't know; there seem to be non-retired posters chiming in on almost every thread.

It's comfort food for some, from childhood memories.

For me it used to be Tastycakes. I don't buy those anymore either because of all the additives.

Yes, Little Debbie cakes came up on the Food forum, I think, and everyone was raving about them. I'd never even heard of them, but of course after reading about Little Debbie on City-Data, I started seeing them everywhere.

I sure hope the price goes down later in the year. For many years we have given out the Little Debbie oatmeal creme pies at Halloween. Kids really like them and they certainly are not any worse for them than regular Halloween candy. But with the crowd we get around here, I've got to buy at least 400

Bite your tongue !

Little Debbie has been around since the 60's.
I always have a box of Little Debbie Swiss rolls in the fridge.

Haha! Yes. No offense to those that like them, but at this point in life, as far as pastries go, it's either the real deal or none at all.
