I thought I'd start a thread regarding companies/products targeting the Senior Age Cohort.

Primetime Partners is a Venture Capital firm co-founded by famed VC Alan Patricof that focuses on businesses targeting the senior age cohort. Here are some of their companies. I'm sure there are others out there.

Call me cynical but I see a lot of pictures of young people (hoping to get rich off us old folks.)

Nah! It is just some venture capitalists trying to get rich off old folks.

Given the aging demographics, I am surprised that there is not more innovation and positioning to cater to the aging population. Or, may be there is and I am unaware of it.

sort of makes sense. Look at the other thread showing that those over 55 are better off financially.

And honestly as a senior - I don't want to do things myself. I took computer programming classes in the late 70s but do I want to mess with any of that now - no. Here youngster - this thing is broken - fix it!

What happened to the days when I would open my desktop computer - clean it out and then add extra memory.

Even my other half is done with fixing his own vehicles. Oil changes etc - now no way.

The real growth industry is in getting rid of stuff. I know two people locally who have started businesses helping seniors downsize and move. Both of them are seniors themselves.

I agree. And where was Kindra when the hugest demographic ever was going through menopause?! Call me cranky but what the heck is a name like Aidaly?

On the other hand, these services do appear useful but not everyone can afford them.

I agree with Clemencia, when I was younger I used to dig in and build things, fix things, figure out how to do things, and now I just do not want to be bothered! I sewed, I crocheted, I serviced my own car (a VW Bug), I hung frames, built things made of wood, sanded and varethaned a deck, etc. etc. Ahhh, sometimes I wish I still had all that motivation.

I am glad to hear it is not just me. These days I just don't want to be bothered doing stuff. All the "adulting" chores have become major obstacles to be overcome. Even calling around to find a plumber or handyman or whomever to come fix something in the house seems like a major chore.

I think what I want is a household manager. One person I could tell to get help for this or that. I don't want the hassle. Just want whatever-it-is fixed or cleaned.

Isn't that crazy that even calling in a repair person is a chore -

We used to have a guy that could do everything. He was just a phone call away - sadly he moved back home.

I do call a sibling for yardwork and some carpentry - repair the fence.

That is why moving into an apartment would be great. But can't with so many pets.

Since the pandemic, the major challenge for me has been getting skilled tradesmen to show up in the first place. Far too often they are no-shows. Or, they show up, say they'll send me a quote, then disappear never to be heard from again.

I agree. THAT's a service I'd pay for.
