seniors past 60 or 70, like me, are you sensitive about giving out your birthdate--mainly to healthcare places, pharmacy and many other businesses that ask for it? My pharmacy asks every time as automatic procedure.
I never used to mind, but the older I get, more I resent this. I know all the reasons for it as ID, and mistaken identity. This is true for common names, but mine is not.
Now, investment companies and any place that values privacy requires this. I feel that this should be and is none of their business, at all. They are invading MY privacy. Except for doctors and hospitals.

No, in fact I proudly announce my birth date when asked at the pharmacy when picking up meds. The way I look at it, especially as a recent cancer survivor, is that I have managed to make it this far, so why hide it? I haven't experienced anyone other than medical asking yet however. If I thought it was none of their business I would just refuse to give it, but if you google yourself, you will most likely find many sites that show your age and other details.
Seriously? This is not private information, easily available on the internet, and it doesn't bother me at all to share it when conducting business or obtaining healthcare. Sometimes I'll make a joke about it......but I am not sensitive about it at all. It doesn't seem like privacy is your real concern, since it has only started to bother you as you got older. I can promise you that the person receiving the information doesn't care about your age.
I'm proud of my age (77). When I tell people, the response is "You look younger." Maybe because I have a full head of hair when my contemporaries don't.
I have no problem providing my DOB where appropriate as part of identification.
Doesn't bother me at all. Ok, maybe a little when I say 52'
