This is good news to the condo developers in Miami!

Even before Chavez was elected in Venezuela, the rich were on planes to Miami.

When the Somoza family in Nicaragua were threatened, they packed a plane with all their co-Horts, and off to Miami they went.

The smarter Cubans knew what was coming, and off to Miami they went.

Any time there's chaos, or potential chaos, in either Central or South America, off to Miami they go!

I made 2 trips to Ecuador in the 2000's and befriended an ex-pat in Otavalo who ran a restaurant/bar there but not sure if she's still there now.

From what I understand, so many ex-pats are in the Cuenca area, a colonial city still not touched by an earthquake, but I wasn't all that impressed with Cuenca, at 6500 feet in altitude, easier breathing than Quito at 9500 feet in altitude.

I have been in Ecuador for the past two weeks and am currently in Banos. Nothing is out of order here. Everything is fine and business is a usual. I was in Galapagos Islands, Quito, in the previous two weeks, never felt unsafe in all my stays.

Very great to hear. Seems like Operation Phoenix is working.

It looks like it is getting worse.

That is beyond horrible! The councilwoman that they executed in front of a crowd was only 29 years old.

Thanks. Nothing is going on here and I have no heard of any violence near us, not even the story below. Nice of forum members to be thinking about this. I appreciate it.

I've just been (trying to) taking a break from all troubling news, lol.
