Tube socks are out of date? I had no idea. Just got a new package of them for Christmas! I am not at retirement age though.

More recently since the 1990s I have had a 1963 Ranchero, a 1972 El Camino, and currently, a 1974 Nova that I work on and drive often during the nice weather. Winter is time to order things, such as a fuel pump, tachometer, and windshield washer pump. I have boxes of new parts and accessories waiting for spring to start on them again.
Ahhh. Vintage Sports Cars are my undoing. Ordering lots of parts this winter to complete assembly of my Vintage Formula S/C/Jr racer in Spring or Summer. Finding parts is one of the biggest challenges, but also the most rewarding as most parts can be obtained only from like minded car junkies.

We still cherish our landine phone.
We only use the IPhone when in the car or traveling.

I have a blender from the early 50s. Very powerful. A cast iron dutch oven that's been in the family for over 100 years, used regularly. Other cast iron pans, also continuously used. I have modern pieces of cookware, too, ofc.

I’m not retired, but I’m a bit of an old soul. I’ve never really managed to embrace a lot of tech. My Parker 51 pen/pencil set is still a fav, and I favor mechanical watches. My Philco cabinet radio also has this really warm, room-filling sound. I might carry a GPS when I backpack, but it’s a backup, as a still navigate with topo maps and a compass, and I still plan long trips on paper maps as well. I’m just a slide-rule-and-E6B-flight-computer kinda guy.

I still use my mother-in-law's 70s-era West Bend electric skillet. The dial lost its numbers a long time ago, but over time I figured out the best cooking temperature and painted a big red stripe with some nail polish to match where the dial's stripe should point.

I have my original Farberware pots and pans, purchased in 1976, brand new from a high end store in the new city I moved to when I first got married. I have replaced one small pot, but kept the lid, and ordered it brand new on ebay. I swear by this cookware and will never use anything else.

For me, in most regards, "out of date" has no relevence. It is simply a judgment, perception, etc. that some try to impose on others.

I have not been "trendy" since college, where I was indeed a fashion trend-setter on a campus of 20,000+

How silly I was ( then ) ( and perhaps even now, but in different ways ).

Today I wore my favorite coat, paid $1,000 for it in 1991 just before I went to the arctic for the first time. Been wearing it every winter since.

These days I wear an Akubra hat that I bought on my first visit to Australia in 1993. Took 30 years for my head to shrink to a size where it fits, so folks can no longer say my head is too big. Unless they want to.
