The other thread on "nostalgic things that make you sick" inspired this thread because a poster listed "tube socks" and those are the only socks my husband wears (except for heavy merino wool socks around the house).. He also wears "tighty whities" briefs and turtleneck shirts and button-collar Oxfords and pleated-front slacks which I have also heard other people disparage, although not in person, LOL.

For myself, I no longer do anything with my hair regarding styling it (although I do get a twice-a-year trim) and I only wear makeup on special occasions even though I am 70.

Good for your husband!! He knows who he is and what he likes, and he shouldn't change a thing!

Well, as far as hair is concerned - it used to be chin long. When SO went for a quadruple bypass with literally no warning I promised to let it grow until he is declared fit to give it to locks for love. The color is odd a reddish brunette. Now It is past my waist, well trimmed every couple of weeks and virgin hair. I need to get back into war paint a bit more.

Short leg warmers aka ankle warmers. I have a box full of those. Lounge pants are generally too short for me so there is the gap which gets covered by them.

Yes, I agree -- and I forgot to add one other thing: Even though we moved from Colorado to Wisconsin, he still wears black Western boots instead of dress shoes! (Shades of Ron DeSantis, lol., although my husband is 6'2", but he says they are more comfortable than regular dress shoes.)

I can’t list THINGS, because the things I like always get discontinued.

But I have IDEAS that I hold onto (like common sense and a good work ethic), because it’s so hard to find them these days.

You have no clue about boys and their feet? We are to the point of custom boots and he managed to break a sole. Yes! On the other hand - court in DC had no issues with boots and bolos. This is the next step:>)
Unders - Albert Kreuz, actually cheaper in the US via Amazon and it fits:>)

We're both still wearing our 'goose down' Frostline outerwear that we sewed from kits 10+ yrs before we met. (Been together 45 +yrs).

Now back in style again .... 'puffer' (?).

Made waffles this morning on our high energy large waffle iron (dated 1918). Double cords... Waffles fully cooked in 22 seconds.

Make ice cream in my 1955 Proctor Silex 'electric' turner machine.

Mixed up a rhubarb cake in our 1970's Bosch mixer. (In heavy duty use daily). We bought it in 1980 from a commercial kitchen who thought they had worn it out.

Currently sitting in an antique chair I salvaged from a demolition house when I was 9 yrs old and refinished in my grandmothers back yard.

Our kids are not impressed.... They don't want to get stuck with this junk.

Jaws. I cannot shake that movie from the summer of 1975. Rocky. Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Annie Hall.

I love this, and it explains a lot of the estate sales I check out, where sometimes it feels like you're walking through a home from 1982 but in the present day. I usually hit the sales on Sundays when everything is 50% off and it's like a vintage time warp. Amazing how some people hang onto things for so long. Sometimes it saddens me.

I'm the weirdo buying this stuff, like 50 yr old Tupperware and old blenders, because they are better quality than the junk being manufactured now.
