To lighten all the strict talk of retirement I thought I would pass on a baby boomer sex survey ....but back to retirement this is an interesting article from cnn (http://millionaires.blogs.cnnmoney.cnn.com/2008/05/22/millionaires-in-the-making-the-shifrins/ - broken link)

I hate to say this, but even though I have a partner, I do not feel sexual now at 57, nor do I WANT to (and my partner is only slightly more interested than I am). Maybe I'm strange, but my hormones ruled my life back in the day, and I love the idea that I don't have to think about that being a priority anymore! I got myself into some serious situations when I was in my 20's and 30's, because I was so sexed up.

I wonder if I'm in the minority - it seems that lots of people try to actually MAKE themselves feel sexual, when I just love NOT being that way! I was talking to a friend recently who's a few years older, and she says, "isn't it just great to not feel so sexual anymore"? And, I agreed whole-heartedly!

I've been on my own for a long time and one of the nice things about menopause is the lowering of the sex drive. There have been some bad choices in my past that in retrospect were driven by the sex drive. So, I agree - life is so much more balanced and I'm much happier now. It is much easier to see manipulation for what it is now than it was when Mother Nature was playing her dirty tricks.
