Best mall in the state, provides hundreds of jobs and generates millions in tax revenue, has attracted numerous interesting stores and restaurants to RI, and is the key centerpiece of the redevelopment of downtown Providence. How can you hate it?

I love the fact that Providence Place is actually pretty well connected to downtown. You can walk along the street and go into stores and restaurants and you can walk across the skybridge into the Westin, or cross Francis Street and get to Waterplace Park very easily. Beats a mall surrounded by a sea of parking spaces. I'll admit the parking garage is POORLY laid out but I just avoid it all together by either walking there or parking at the state house lot (free) on the weekends or at night.

Where is the free lot, exactly? I had no idea!

If you go down toward the exit of the parking garage instead of up after you first enter, you can park on the C-level. Always has plenty of space and you can get out in about 2 minutes, even when there's a long line of cars, because it's so close to the exit.

The lot next to the State House on Smith Street, where the legislators park. It's open on the weekend for free. I've parked there for years and never had a problem.

The Mall is nice...and the best in the state. But the underground parking garage can be a nightmare at times though. I prefer Natick Collection over Providence Place though.

I know many people have expressed displeasure at having to pay to park at the mall, but it costs ONE dollar to park there for 3 hours. For this one gets to park their car in the shade, protected from the weather. I guess if you're at the mall all day, the fee is something to consider. But I don't think I've ever been there more than three hours. What's the big deal--it's only a buck?

I have no problem with the price, in fact it is quite cheap. I just hate the setup of the garage, especially when it's busy.
