I have only internet in my Newport condo with Cox. It just went from 50.00 to $77/month for internet only!! Is there any other providers other than Cox available that anyone uses with more reasonable rates?

I think the only place you have a cable choice in RI is Providence, where Verizon Fios is also offered. Cox discourages internet only residential service by its pricing. It may be cheaper to bundle, if you also need TV and or land line phone. $77 seems high for simple residential internet. I pay $105 for a Cox Business line which I share via WIFI with another business. You may be able to get less expensive internet service from non-cable sources.
In the East Bay you can choose Full Channel or Cox.
Verizon Fios may be available in other areas of RI besides Providence.
Good to know. I'm not familiar with Full Channel. Unfortunately Newport, Jamestown, Middletown & Portsmouth only have Cox. What I do like about Cox is voice recognition.

Due to the popularity of the bike path, some people now view East Providence as being part of the East Bay. Realtors and local media have attempted to expand it even beyond that.
Regardless, Full Channel is only available in Barrington, Warren, and Bristol. Full Channel was the only cable option in those towns for a long time. COX wasn't available in that area until the early 2000s.
No. Again, Full Channel is only available in Barrington, Warren, and Bristol.
Holly, the website you linked claims Verizon High Speed Internet has 97.88% availability in Newport. That is not accurate according to Independent Man. I also confirmed by checking a few Newport addresses on the Verizon website. Not available.
In Newport it's Cox or nothing. So I'll be paying $78/month for internet only...which i think is ridiculous but basically have no other option. Thanks for your input though. Hopefully Cox will get some competition in this area soon!
